Mississippi State Board of Architecture (MSBOA): MSBOA services include the licensing of Mississippi's professionals including architects and landscape architects. Their online services allow commerce and consumers to look up information about businesses, licensed and individuals registered with the MSBOA. They also handle consumer complaints against Mississippi architects and landscape architects.
Mississippi Development Authority (MDA): MDA's website includes links to their many divisions, including the Energy, Community and Asset Development, and Minority Business Owner information. Here you can find information on Mississippi's energy sources, ways to promote sustainable energy resources, and strategies to improve energy efficiency in our government, commercial, and residential buildings and facilities.
U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC): The USGBC is one good source for information on "Green Buildings" including information on LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This Green Building Rating System® (LEED) is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. American Society of Interior Designers (ASID): The American Society of Interior Designers is the leading organization for interior design professionals. Mississippi Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects: ASLA's purpose is the advancement of knowledge, education, and skill in the art and science of landscape architecture as an instrument of service for the public welfare. Construction Specifications Institute (CSI): CSI is a national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documents and project delivery. The organization is unique in the industry in that its members are a cross section of specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors and building materials suppliers. The organization has 146 chapters and more than 15,000 members. Monthly Chapter meetings allow members the opportunity to communicate openly with their counterparts and exchange information for successful project management. CSI is renowned in the industry for its rigorous certification programs for professionals seeking to improve their knowledge of accurate and concise construction documents. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB): This is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. Professional degree programs in architecture. Their site contains listing of NAAB accredited programs in architecture among other information. Click here to access the NAAB web site.
The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) also offers resources for persons interested in a career in architecture. The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is the official voice of students to the educational system and the profession of architecture and design. Click here to learn more about the AIAS, whose national offices are co-located in Washington, DC, in the headquarters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
