Honors and Awards

The AIA Mississippi Honors and Awards Programs are part of a long-standing AIA tradition of recognizing individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of the profession of architecture and the AIA. Through these popular member programs, we aim to celebrate each other's accomplishments and increase the public awareness of AIA Mississippi and the profession of Architecture.

The Annual AIA Mississippi Design Awards

The stated mission of the AIA Mississippi Annual Design Awards program is to:
  • Recognize excellence in architectural design by local members of the American Institute of Architects, and in doing so advance the public recognition and contributions of its members, their firms, and their profession to society.
  • Educate the public about the importance of quality design in creating healthy vibrant communities, to encourage clients to strive for higher design goals, and to acknowledge their support of quality design.
  • Provide member architects an important vehicle for peer recognition.
This juried members' Design Awards program and gala celebration is held annually in the Summer in conjunction with the annual convention. All project types are eligible – from small home renovations to multi-million dollar resorts.  Many award winning projects from this prestigious awards program have withstood the test of time and are now considered architectural landmarks in our state, or are ranked among the best works of architecture in our state—appropriate and well-conceived solutions addressing important urban or social concerns. Visit our AIA Mississippi Design Awards web page for more information on our upcoming 2009 Design Awards.
